The Pulse project, promoted by Fundación ONCE and developed by Nayar in collaboration with FEEDA, has been awarded one of the IAUD International Design Awards, granted by the International Association for Universal Design.

Pulse received recognition in the “Ergonomics” category, which highlights solutions that exemplarily apply the principles of human-centered universal design, promoting environments, products, and services that are accessible to everyone.

Technology serving accessibility in elevators

The free Pulse application (together with Nayar’s proprietary hardware, the Virtual Accessible COP), allows any user to operate an elevator through their smartphone without needing to press the cabin buttons, thereby improving universal accessibility within the elevator sector. This enables independent elevator use for any user, eliminates the need to physically press the cabin control panel, and provides a simple and intuitive experience through the mobile application.

Using Pulse is straightforward and involves three steps: open the app on the smartphone, select the elevator and the desired floor in the app, enter the elevator, and confirm that you are inside.

This proposal aims to contribute to the development of more intuitive and inclusive solutions in the field of vertical mobility, expanding opportunities for access and independence for users.

Recognition of the social impact of universal design

The jury particularly valued Pulse’s ability to “deliver a real and immediate impact on the daily lives of people with disabilities and its potential for large-scale adoption.”

The IAUD International Design Awards aim to recognize projects, products, and services that exemplarily incorporate the principles of universal design, promoting environments, technologies, and solutions that can be used by everyone.

These awards place special emphasis on innovation that addresses real-world needs, particularly recognizing proposals that enhance autonomy, dignity, and inclusion in everyday life.

Innovation and collaboration for more inclusive mobility

This recognition highlights the importance of collaboration between social organizations, technology companies, and sector associations to develop solutions that respond to real societal needs.

Nayar’s active participation in the development of PULSE reflects the company’s commitment to innovation in vertical mobility and to the development of technologies that improve universal accessibility and enhance the elevator user experience.
